Full vs limited registration
All puppies will come with limited AKC registration. There are two different types of AKC registration: limited or full. In simplified terms, limited registration means that the puppy cannot be bred or shown but puppy is still registered with AKC, and can still participate in several events. Full AKC registration allows the puppy to bred or shown. We do offer full AKC reg to small, responsible, breeders with the breeds best interest in mind. Please contact us, if these are your intentions.
Will my puppy be unaffected by the common genetic diseases IN Golden Retrievers?
YES! All of our breeding dogs are genetic tested for: PRA1, PRA2, PRcd, Ich, MD, NCL, and DM. No puppies will be affected with any of these diseases.
When are puppy picks made?
The way our reservation/picking process works is pretty simple. We work on a first come first serve basis. We usually have a waitlist and when puppies are born we contact each family in the order they contacted us, and notify them of puppies. Families then have a choice to send a deposit to secure pick place for their desired gender (ie male or female), or they can choose to wait for another litter, etc. If a family does not want a puppy at that time, we contact the next family on our list. We give each family 24-48 hours to respond back to us regarding a litter born. If we do not hear back from them within the time frame, we have to move on to the next family. When families place a deposit to reserve a puppy, they will get to select their puppy around 5-6 weeks of age, (sometimes earlier if they choose a puppy based on color/pictures/etc). We welcome families to come out to our home and meet the parents/puppies in person, or some families choose to pick their puppy based on pictures, and personality descriptions. We do not allow families to visit if they are puppy shopping from breeder to breeder as it is very important to keep the possible spread of disease away from our home and dogs. If you are not able to meet/pick your puppy in person, we have helped many families pick by pictures, descriptions, personality traits etc. We know our puppies very well, and can often match puppies based on personality desires. Puppies are ready for their new homes at 8 weeks of age. *Although it does not happen often, we do reserve the right for first pick on any litter we feel will benefit our future breeding program*
Can I bring my family pet to meet yours?
Unfortunately we can not allow any other pets on our premises for the safety and health of our puppies and dogs. Additionally, we have a livestock guardian dog who works hard to keep our livestock/property safe, and would not appreciate a foreign intruder.
Do you offer a health guarantee?
Yes, all puppies come with a one year health guarantee for hereditary conditions: (hips, elbows, heart and eyes). We try our best to avoid passing on any undesirable traits which is why we OFA and genetic health test our breeding dogs. Additional information regarding our health guarantee will be included in your puppy packet.
Do you offer shipping?
Yes, we do offer shipping for an additional fee. Puppies must be at least 8 weeks of age before shipping and there is usually a temperature requirement before airline shipping, so there will be certain times of the year we will not be able to ship via the airline. We use the Pet-safe program through United and have shipped multiple puppies in the past with no issues. There is also the option of ground shipping, which is actually becoming easier to do versus the airlines. We have personally delivered puppies to families in neighboring states from time to time as well. Please contact us if you will be needing your puppy shipped.
*For local (in state) families: due to our remote location we will often times meet multiple families in a mutual location for puppy pick up, as this saves a lot of time, gas, and redundancy.*
Is the Deposit non refundable?
Our policy is we do not accept deposits until our puppies are born. This ensures that we have proper puppy availability for families. Our deposits are non-refundable, except in the case that something unforeseen happens to the puppy, or an emergency arises on our/your end. When you place a deposit, it shows us your commitment to buying a puppy, and in turn we agree to hold your puppy place. We can not hold a puppy with out a deposit. We do keep a “waiting” list for those interested and when a litter is born, we will contact you. Please let us know if you would like to be placed on our waiting list.
how does the purchase process work?
If you are interested in placing a deposit on a puppy, the first step is to contact us, so we can get to know more about you and what you are seeking in a puppy. Second we require a $300 deposit, which can be made by personal check, paypal, or cash, which goes toward the final payment of your puppy. Once your deposit is received this secures your spot for puppy pick, or puppy, and we will send you a copy of our health guarantee/sales contract that you will read over, fill out, copy and send back to us, usually through email. All of our puppies will be marked with a different color collar so we can distinguish who is who, and keep track of personality traits as the puppy grows. This is also helpful for you as you will be able to see which puppy you are interested in by collar color. We will update puppy photos and information often.
What is the difference between an American vs. English Golden Retriever?
Genetically a Golden is a Golden regardless of color, however there are obvious differences between the two types, due to the process of breeding for different needs or desires. Goldens in general were bred for show/hunting/retrieving ability/and willingness to please. Two breed clubs formed the basis for what you see today in the American, versus the English Goldens. American Goldens stemming from the American Kennel Club (AKC) were bred with the desires of breeders in our American region, whereas the English Goldens were bred with the desires of the breeders in the British region, stemming from the British Kennel Club (BKC). The main differences are coat color, body type, ability, and temperament. American Goldens have a tendency to be taller, darker colored, have a higher desire to retrieve, can be more energetic, (although I say that with caution as I have English bred Goldens with loads of energy to spare!) and generally have a more confident nature. English Goldens are usually shorter, stockier, have a very light cream coat, calmer, were bred more for show, and can be slightly more reserved in nature. We choose to incorporate both “types” in our program as whether they are American bred, or English bred, we love them both for what they are, and what they have to offer, or improve our breeding goals.
What will my puppy come with?
Your puppy will come with a one year health guarantee, AKC limited reg, health record that shows dates of all dewormings as well as first set of vaccines and when next set(s) are due, a toy or blanket that smells like dam and littermates, a sample of their food, and an email loaded with all sorts of information regarding the foods we feed, supplies we use for training etc, natural and holistic remedies, and general info.
